The typical Capital Area Runners weekly workout schedule is as follows:
Mondays 9:00 AM in Bethesda - check newsletter for details
This is a newer workout option that has been added to accommodate runners in the Montgomery County area who need a mid-morning option, but if you can't make it to our normal Tuesday sessions and this workout fits your schedule, come on out and join us.
Tuesdays 6:15 AM and 7:00 PM at the Washington-Lee H.S. Track - Interval Workouts
The meeting times listed above are the approximate times that runners should be arriving to do their pre-workout warmup. We aim to get at least 15 minutes of light running and warmup drills prior to the start of the formal training session. Workout details can be found on the calendar and also in the Capital Area Runners weekly e-newsletter.
Note: during certain times of the year (normally January and July) we shift the Tuesday sessions to a location near the Iwo Jima Memorial to run some hill repeats.
Wednesdays 7:00 PM at Road Runner Sports in Falls Church – 4-5 Mile Social Run
This is a low-key recovery run on an out-and-back course on the W&OD Trail.
Thursdays 7:00 PM and Fridays 6:15 AM at the Washington-Lee H.S. Track - Tempo Workouts
As with the interval workouts, the meeting times listed above are the approximate times that runners should be arriving to do their pre-workout warmup. Workout details can be found on the calendar and also in the Capital Area Runners weekly e-newsletter.
Saturday and Sunday Long Runs
These sessions are open to CAR members and their friends, family, and co-workers, as well as anyone else who is looking for some weekend running partners. All are welcome. The start times for these runs are seasonally adjusted with 7:00 AM being the summer meeting time (May thru September) and 8:00 AM being the winter meeting time (October thru April). Locations for these runs vary, but we most frequently meet at Fletcher's Boathouse on the C&O Canal Towpath. We normally run out-and-back courses so that we don’t lose anyone along the way. Runners could be covering anywhere from 6 to 21 miles, depending on the event for which they are preparing. During marathon prep periods when we have large groups of runners going 20+ miles, the runs will be supported with aid stations containing water and nutritional supplements. Weekend run details can be found on the calendar and also in the Capital Area Runners weekly e-newsletter.
